Florida man injured after slipping on banana peel at Walmart

Most people don’t think of a simple slip when they picture a serious injury. Nevertheless, the slip-and-fall accident is one of the most common ways a person can find themselves in the hospital.

When the slip and fall is the result of another party’s negligence, it becomes a more serious issue. The fact that you are now injured is their responsibility. This was the situation recently when a man in Fort Lauderdale, Florida slipped and fell on a banana peel while at Walmart.

Not just a danger in cartoons

According to the Florida Record, Robert Wilson was shopping in a Walmart when he slipped and fell on a loose banana peel in an aisle. Wilson was injured badly enough to require medical treatment. He has stated that he has built up over $65,000 in medical bills, and expects that they will only continue to grow.

Mr. Wilson’s case is just one example of the fact that a person can suffer an injury just about anywhere. And while slipping is a common cause, it is critical to know what to do should you be injured in a car or truck accident, suffer a head injury or sustain another type of injury with long term effects.

When can you recover damages?

Persevering through an injury is not only painful, but often very expensive. In addition to contending with medical bills, you may not be able to work, will most likely have to pay for a hospital stay and may need rehab or medical braces. That is why it is important to speak to a skilled personal injury attorney right away when you’re injured by another’s negligence.

Each situation is different, but you may be entitled to draw compensation for any of the following injuries:

  • Physical injuries that required medical treatment.
  • Mental injuries from emotional trauma you suffered in your accident.
  • Wages you lost from not being able to work.
  • Out-of-pocket expenses you incurred because of the other party’s negligence. For example, damaging property as a result of a distracted driver forcing you off the road.

These are just examples. Speak to a professional for a specialized breakdown of what you can expect from your accident.

The bills mount quickly when you’ve been injured, don’t face them alone. Hold the negligent party responsible and see that justice is served.
